Flammability Testing Lab
The flammability test laboratory conducts flammability testing of materials, parts and products for mining, for processing plastics, liquids and solids, and for the chemical, electrical, automotive and textile industries. The purpose of these tests includes:
- determining the ignition and flash point of the object,
- the speed of flame spreading through the burning object,
- the burning time of various materials,
- the length of the undamaged part of the test material,
- the resistance of the object to frictional stress,
- the magnitude of the intensity of the initiating flame acting on the object when it ignites,
- determining the minimum amount of oxygen in the mixture with nitrogen at which ignition and flame propagation may occur in the test object.
In our tunnels in Štramberk and in Ostrava-Radvanice, we perform flammability tests using fire simulation for the automotive industry, where we investigate the resistance of materials to flame stress. We also provide fire simulation services in these areas for the training of mine rescuers. The laboratory is also equipped with a special fire tunnel for large-scale fire simulations.
